Teton County announced that Heather Overholser has been named as the new Director of the Public Works Department.

The position of Director was vacated with Sean O’Malley’s recent retirement. The Director of Public Works oversees the following Divisions in Teton County: Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling, Engineering Services, Road and Levee, and Pathways.

Heather has served as the Superintendent of Solid Waste and Recycling for the past 10 years, and as Executive Director of Jackson Community Recycling from 2003 to 2009. Recruitment efforts for that position will begin in the near future. Heather’s role as Public Works Director will officially begin on April 15, 2019.

“I’m honored by this opportunity, and I couldn’t be more excited to lead a team of such capable, dedicated public servants,” said Overholser. “This Department provides critical services to residents throughout the County, and I look forward to doing my part as Director to ensure that we continue to be responsive, innovative, and collaborative.”

“Heather is a wonderful fit for this position, and her record as ISWR Superintendent speaks for itself,” said Alyssa Watkins, County Commissioners’ Administrator. “She will be able to hit the ground running and ensure that Public Works continues to provide excellent service to our community.”
