Teton County is committed to collecting organic waste — including food scraps, yard trimmings, clean lumber, and other compostable materials —and turning it into something useful.
By keeping these materials out of the landfill, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve truckloads going to the landfill in Idaho, and turn waste into nutrient-rich compost that supports healthy soil and landscapes.
Leaves, grass, branches, and other yard waste can be brought to the Trash Transfer Station year round, where they are composted locally into mulch and soil products.
Composting food scraps keeps valuable materials out of the landfill and helps build healthy soil. Whether a resident or a business, Teton County has options for you.
Each year, several free collection events help residents compost more and landfill less. These are an easy way for residents to keep valuable organic materials out of the landfill — and turn them into compost instead.
