Community Recycling Sites Overflow

Jackson, WY. August 13, 2024 – Teton County Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling would like to remind the public about the importance of keeping our Community Recycling Sites clean. ISWR is urging the public to please refrain from leaving recyclables on the ground beside recycling bins when the bins are full. If recycling bins are full, please DO NOT leave recyclables on the ground, try a different Community Recycling Site, or hold on to your recyclables until the bins can be serviced.

Community Recycling Sites throughout the County are located on properties provided by landowners in our community that have graciously allowed Teton County ISWR to host Community Recycling Sites on their properties. Please respect the property of site hosts and the services of Teton County ISWR. The actions of a few could jeopardize the future availability of these sites and a great service for our entire community. ISWR is extremely appreciative of the community’s dedication to recycling and waste diversion.

ISWR is currently experiencing staffing constraints, and materials improperly disposed of lead to increased inefficiencies, added stress on staff, and additional avoidable time spent by staff cleaning up the litter.

It is dangerous for Teton County staff and other community members who may slip or trip on the recycled materials discarded on the ground. Leaving recyclables on the ground is considered litter, it could also possibly attract wildlife. Currently, recycling materials are not considered trash and therefore does not fall under the Wildlife Feeding & Bear LDR’s. Our goal is to keep it that way.

Community Recycling Sites are for residential use only (this includes residents in and out of Teton County, Wyoming as well as visitors). Our Community Recycling Sites do not have the capacity to serve Businesses or Commercial operations. Businesses should be utilizing the recycling bins available at the Recycling Center, to prevent Community Recycling containers from overflowing, which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During the busy summer season, it is especially important to conserve bin space by flattening your cardboard boxes.

For questions, contact Teton County ISWR at 307-733-7678.

Thank you for your cooperation and most importantly, thank you for recycling!
