Tribal Trail Connector
Progress Summary
Why Are We Doing This Project
Teton County is examining the potential construction of the proposed 2,600-ft long (approximately 0.5-mile) segment of Tribal Trail Road that would extend from Cherokee Lane north to Wyoming Highway 22 (WYO 22). The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is serving as an agent to deliver the project through a contracted consultant. The Jackson/Teton County Integrated Transportation Plan and the Comprehensive Plan identify the Tribal Trail Connector Project as a priority to address several community needs, including travel redundancy and multi-modal connectivity between South Park neighborhoods and areas accessed by WYO 22, including Wilson, Teton Village, and Teton Valley, Idaho.
Who Will Benefit
Currently, local drivers must travel through the Y intersection of US Highway 26/89 and WYO 22, adding to congestion at this major crossroad. The Tribal Trail Connector Road would help alleviate traffic congestion by adding an additional route. An additional route also helps alleviate traffic flow during emergency evacuation situations and provides first responders with an additional access point to neighborhoods across Teton County.
What Is The Estimated Timeline
This is an ongoing project. Teton County is working closely with the Wyoming Department of Transportation to incorporate the Tribal Trail Connector Road with their WYO 22 Corridor Project.
