License Plate Series

Current Series & Issue

Wyoming's 2017 plate series depicts Lower Green River Lake and Squaretop Mountain. All designs are required to include the Bucking Horse logo.

Display Requirements

Wyoming plates are based upon an 8 year cycle. The year 2017 is the first year in the 8 year cycle of the Green River Lake plate series. In Wyoming, owners of a motorized vehicle, excluding motorcycles, are required to display both a front and rear plate.

New 2017 Plate Series

Wyoming law requires the license plate design to change every 8 years, and the new design to be readily distinguishable from the previous design. The new design for 2017 is Lower Green River Lake and Squaretop Mountain in the background.

2017 Wyoming License Plate

New for 2017 plates will be a "T" added to truck plates to distinguish those vehicles from standard passenger plates with the same number.

The new 2017 University of Wyoming plates will change to a gold background with brown numbers.

Please note: Wyoming plates belong to you, remove them when you sell the vehicle.
