Does Teton County recycle clothes and linens?

sweaters

Yes, but try donating locally first

ISWR works in partnership with local organizations, encouraging residents to first consider donating gently used items to local thrift stores and resale/reuse organizations. This benefits local reuse efforts and increases the efficiency with which these items are redistributed.

When local donation sites are at capacity, ISWR collects the overflow materials and sends them, through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Salt Lake City, for distribution to thrift stores throughout the region.

This program has been extremely successful in furthering ISWR’s mission to reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill, while saving thousands of dollars in trash disposal costs.

Recycling Center Textiles Drop-Off

Reusable clothing and textiles can be delivered to the Recycling Center free of charge during office hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The textile bin is located under the awning next to the front office.

Guidelines

Textiles should be delivered in plastic bags (preferable clear or white bags as opposed to black), and the following guidelines apply:

  • Clean textile products including clothing, linens, towels, bedding, and curtains
  • No bed pillows, please.  Decorative house-hold pillows are accepted.
  • No damp, wet, or soiled textiles
  • No textiles such as carpet, auto grease rags, or any cloth containing solvent.
  • Reusable shoes, belts, bags, and purses are accepted in the textile bin. Please attach shoes together.

Thank you for your efforts to divert textiles from the landfill!
